Self awareness – Listening to Your Mind Chatter!

One of the great things about Mindfulness is that it helps open your mind to new things.

This concept is something entirely new to me: instead of quietening your mental chatter, you listen to it!

This is self awareness in a different light: it apparently increases your awareness of how your mind works, and what influences your perception.

The way you manage your mental chatter is by:

  • Using a notebook regularly to note the detail of your chatter, not just the gist of it – on a regular, daily basis.
  • Noting what instigates the chatter periods, how they relate to each other and what categories they fit into
  • Reviewing your notes to look for trends.

I’m going to give it a try!
